Question about drawing

Midway through the movie, a scientist showed the heroes a picture of an adult and infant Gorgo, and told them what they had, was the infant. But the picture scarcely resembled the creatures. Couldn't the drawing just as easily have looked like the creatures (since I'm sure the picture wasn't taken out of a book about real dinosaurs, but was drawn for the movie)?

I just assumed the scientists were using the pictures as an example. As in they weren't actually pictures of a skeletal Gorgo, but pictures of dinosaurs so they could illustrate just how big mommy was going to be when she showed up.
