i saw on the Trivia he didn't want guns because they could kill any monster? are you kidding me did he even hear of godzilla? nuclear missles couldn't take down that SOB hell they needed a oxygen destroyer which dosen't even exist
Well there were plenty of weapons fired in the movie. But I'm sure the director's motivation for not including guns in the film is that his 6-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER didn't want to see the monster die.
"The original script had no military action indicated. Director Eugène Lourié argued that gunfire would kill a beast, no matter how big. The King Brothers wanted guns and they got them."
Which of course is true. If a tank shell will penetrate hardened steel it would penetrate any biological tissue. But in real life a 200 foot monster couldn't support its own weight on land, so let's not nit-pick and enjoy the show!
well supposedly this mosnter had not skin but rather bone, like some fish has. and frankly it would take a really pwoerful rifle to penetrate, say, aligator skull bone. one could argue it is stronger than steel in some occasions, so if a overgrown 200 foot mosnter with bones as think as your house walls for his skin comes to town, tanks may not be enough.
