commentary track

As good and powerful as The Exiles was, the commentary track turned out to be self-serving and clueless. Examples: in the first scene in the 3rd St. Tunnel, Homer's friend Rico is seemingly doing graffiti, which they completely missed. In the fast driving scene thru the same 3rd St. Tunnel, the tunnel itself becomes a character when it stretches far beyond its real length, yet during this scene, the commentators were riffing on something completely different. At the gas station scene, the attendant's silent reaction of the drunken/disorderly characters was powerful. Did the commentators notice? No. And in the gay bar scene, they make a comment how there is no clue what time it is. They should have paid attention to the previous gas station scene with the big clock in the window that showed 11:30. It demonstrates how the commentary really didn't know what time it was.

Bad commentaries are not unusual. In the audio commentary for "Big Touble in Little China" Kurt Russell and John Carpenter get completely off the subject of the movie halfway through and end up talking about Russell's kids! Like I care! They do apologize at the end but they're laughing about it too. So, bad commentaries do happen unfortunately.
