Holds Up Very Well - With One Reservation

I just watched this again and was very impressed with it - it's easily among Hammer's top productions, with some of the best performances ever featured in a Hammer film, and one of Terrence Fisher's best directorial efforts.

I have one one or two basic quibble with the film: Hammer relocated the story to 18th-century Spain, but the dialog in 'John Elder's' script is decidedly British, as are all of the accents of the 'Spaniards.'

"In my case, self-absorption is completely justified."
