one of the most underrated performances in film history!!!!!

if you ask people what performance by an actress in a movie was the best and most will say meryl streep for sophie's choice, vivien leigh for both gone with the wind or a streetcar named desire, or elizabeth taylor for who's afraid of virginia woolf?
however i have to say her performance goes right up there with those women, and it should be up there but i never hear people say anything about her performance.... my person al opinion is that she and judy garland's a star is born are some of the best yet very underrated performances in film history

I assume you're talking about Sophia Loren. She won an Academy Award for this performance. How can you say it's underrated?!

Of course you make a fair point there, but I think the OP's point was more that Loren as an actress and her performance in this film deserve greater recognition when the pantheon of all time great actress performances is considered.

I am not quite sure how I feel about that one, although I consider Loren's performance here to be exceptional. It's just that there are so many great ones to consider if one goes all time.
