My Opinions and thoughts

It was a great show, although a few things they could have done. Larry Keating who played Roger Addison passed away. But the character pretty much vanished without an explanation, they could have at least said something like Roger left Kay for good, or even have Wilbur, mention that they moved away. Or even have dealt with death on Mister Ed who feels bad about having said mean things, about Roger, and Kay's departure could of have been going home to stay with her mother.

Even with the Kirkwoods, does anyone know why leon ames and Florence McMicheal left. They could have said that Gordon got a new Job working with the army and transfered or something. Instead of leaving the audience to guess.

The neighbors pretty much vanished without explanation, I know they were secondary characters but still they played a big part on Mister Ed.

The last episode was funny but still if they had done a true final episode. Here are 3 ways I could see it ending.

1. Mister Ed's former owner comes back, and wants to buy Mister Ed back, He even offers Wilbur a lot of money. Wilbur walks in on him talking to Ed. In the end, Mister Ed decides to stay with Wilbur.

2. Wilbur gets a great job offer in Nevada, to build a hotel and casino, only problem is the Posts would need to move there, They look at a few houses, and they even find a place with a barn for Ed. Ed is not crazy about leaving. Ed even goes far to sabotage the deal in the end (by calling the boss and impersonating Wilbur) Ed eventually tells Wilbur why he did it, where they are is home. Wilbur asssures him wherever he goes Ed goes. Carol overhears the conversation and walks in and sees Ed talking, shocked she faints, when she regains conscious Wilbur tries to convince she is not well, but Ed ends up talking to her. Or to keep true to the series, Wilbur could carry her back to the house, and convince her that she had a bad dream. In the end the Post move. The last scene is of Wilbur cleaning out the barn and getting Ed into the trailer. While they are doing that they are whistling the Mr. Ed theme, Carol hears Wilbur, and asks him what he is whistiling he says just something he heard.

3. The last episode could have Carol find out that she's pregnant, Ed gets jealous and runs away when he finds out, Wilbur finds and assures him that even with the baby he is still a part of the family. Wilbur tells him that when the baby gets older Ed can even give him a horseback ride. Ed eventually softens up about the idea especially when Carol in a good mood starts telling Ed names she's been thinking up.

what do you all think, anyone have any ideas or opinions on how the show should have ended.

I like #2 best. I wish the series did another season before ending.

I like #2 also.

i kinda like 3, but 2 is good too.

they wouldn't mention a character die. it would be too depressing for such a lighthearted show. but i agree that they should have come up with an explanation.

I agree that the writers should have come up with a reason the Addisons were no longer there.

This show should not have been cancelled; especially since it was so popular.

I like #3 the best, as this would follow the basic premises of the series. As far as the Addisons go, back in the early 1960's death on a light-hearted show was simply taboo, and not mentioned. Anyone remember how Dennis The Menace dealt with death of the original Mr. Wilson? A very quick 1-2 explanation and that was basically that. Anyway, I loved Mister Ed when it was originally run, and recall wishing it had a true wrapup episode.
