This screams for a remake

Please, NEVER EVER EVER remake Mister Ed. It was perfect as it was and no one could possibly replace the original actors.

You don't want to see this as a remake. They would get Will Smith to do the voice of Mister Ed. Wilbur would be played by Ice-T, who would be a hip-hop graphic designer who works out of his house. Ben Stiller would be the nervous next door neighbor who was always suspect something sick was going on with Wilbur and the horse, and trying to catch them on his flip video phone. Wilbur's wife would be the latest starlet from a reality TV show, who runs an aerobics class and is always bringing health food to the barn for Wilbur to eat, but Mister Ed always knocks it over. Mister Ed would use a smart phone to text in his bets to the local race track using a pencil to type on the keyboard. The opening theme would be some rap about being a horse done by, of course, Will Smith since he's voicing the horse.

In other words, another remake crapfest. :-)
