Did Mr.Ed really talk???

Did Mr.Ed really talk or was wilbur just crazy????

reply

Yes, because there were times that he talked to other people, even though usually they didn't realize it was a horse talking. I can think of one occasion where he talked directly to a child, and explained to Wilbur that no one would believe a kid anyway. Also he frequently used the telephone.

I do think it would have been cool if they had of left that question open to debate though.

This reminds me of a friend's aunt who was so fascinated with Mr Ed because she just couldn't understand how they got that horse to talk. HELLO!!!

reply

I think the real question at hand here is how was Mister Ed even able to talk in the first place?

reply

What I can't understand and frustrates me to no end is why he refused to talk to anyone other than Wilbur. I understand there would be no story if he did show off a bit, but jeese

that's explained in the very first episode.

Yes. Truth be told, he was an actual talking horse that was given speech lessons. It took them years to perfect it. I don't recall it ever being done again, except with a mule on one occasion. He had a show too. Amazing really when you tnhing about it!

It's true, NASA DID develop a talking horse - do you think it's any coincidence that the people who knew or found out about it have been steadily dying over the past fifty years? Do not be surprised if, by the time some of you read this, Wilbur also has "conveniently" died at the age of only 100 or so. The so called "voice" of Mr Ed, Allan "Rocky" Lane died suddenly (after a "conveniently" brief six week fight with cancer) in 1973 when he was about to lift the lid on the scandal. Coincidence? Believe that if you want. Face it, a talking horse would have been an invaluable weapon in the wrong hands in the Cold War and the US government was determined to keep it under wraps.

According to Nick at Nite, Mr. Ed really talked. It was Wilbur they had to use strings on to make it look like Wilbur was talking.
