8 Episodes Edited on New Season One Dvd Release October 6th

I read a review for mister ed season one on dvdtalk.com, it says Busy Wife, Kiddy Park, Stable for Three, Ed the Lover, The Pageant Show, The Aunt, Little Boy, and The Contest have a shortened running times of 22 minutes, while the rest of the episodes are 25 minutes long. Just a heads up about edited shows.

That Sux! Why can't they show them all in their entirety?

I agree. The editing needs to CEASE!

Yes. This is true,

The Season 1 DVD has EIGHT edited prints coming in about 22 minutes, when the standard should be 25-25:30 minutes for uncut episodes. The video quality is very good. However, the audio is very low.

Interesting that every one of the edited episodes has an MGM splash at the end (and none of the others that I have seen do). I'm wondering if for some reason the originals of these 8 episodes were lost and they had to go to the earliest syndicated version they could find. If these are copies syndicated by MGM, then they would probably have to keep that bit at the end.
In any case, these are still *much* better than the current syndicated versions where they have eliminated the vocals on the opening and closing credits, occasionally used the wrong opening credits, used a short version of the theme music over a 2x (or faster) speed video, and hacked even more out of the episodes. One weird thing is that in the current syndicated versions Larry Keating is doing the voice-over for the Filmways splash for all 6 seasons(including episodes made after he passed away).

Probably for the same reason they edited The Lone Ranger first and second season dvds. PCness. They edited out the part about "With his faithful Indian companion, Tonto" from the opening on all the episodes.

And there's already a poster on here complaining about Wibur whipping Mr. Ed (even though the actual whipping was never shown and might have been only a spanking).

Who knows what else Wilbur might have done to that poor horse that's been edited out of the dvds?

And Disney edited out the cigar in the Pecos Bill cartoon (digitaly erasing the cigar) and completely edited (cut) out the entire "Hatfields and McCoys" segment from the movie "Make Mine Music" for pcness when they released it on dvd.

The original theatrical showing had it in it.

too bad the episodes are edited. But I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the theme song being instrumental on the first episodes.

When I used to watch it on tv, those same first episodes were always only an instrumental theme without any lyrics being sung.

With the lyrics sung on the later episodes.

Yes, most episodes had the singing, but not the first episodes. (yes, way more than one episode always had the instrumental-only theme).
