Sedated?

Does anyone else think Bamboo was lightly sedated during filming? I have recently reacquainted myself with the show and was somewhat disturbed over how they got him to talk and do all his tricks. To me he looked awfully lethargic. What with his drooping head, extremely relaxed body posture and glazed over eyes. I have also paused and zoomed in on many of the talking scenes and could see no sign of wires in or around his mouth. My only theory is that they had an electrical wire in the noseband of his headcollar and activated it via remote control whenever he was required to "talk". I just felt so sorry for him as he didn't look like a happy horse. Who knows the truth might eventually come out, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Peanut butter, supposedly.

No peanut butter, no electrical wires, absolute NO harm to the horse whatsoever. The truth is coming out shortly.

But if you watch the show, you can SEE some kind of string or wire around his upper lip pulling it up.

True. But no ELECTRICAL wires. In fact, it was fishing line.

This & much more in my upcoming book, "I Am Mr. Ed ... Allan 'Rocky' Lane Revealed," to be published later this year.

This is a very interesting fact that I already knew but I look forward to reading your book and finding out more.

reply

Thx. Yes, a great many people are already aware of how Mr. Ed was made to speak. Unfortunately, there are just as many falsehoods out there which muddle the story.

I appreciate your interest. I & my publisher hope to have the book on the market before the holidays.

Hi Linda:

Is your book about Mister Ed finished yet? Btw, did you interview Alan Young?

reply

As a lover of horses who have met and ridden a lot of horses I can tell you that there are horses out there like Mr. Ed. They are chill horses who don't spook easily and who are fairly intelligent. The added ability of being nimble and able to do tricks is another plus.

He was just a good horse. I really doubt that they sedated him. Basically, imagine sedating your dog and then trying to get him to do tricks on cue. Wouldn't work very well now would it?

If any wires were used, Mr. Ed didn't seem to mind.
