In that episode, Ed is in love with a filly "who digs skinny horses" and takes mud baths to reduce weight. When Wilbur refuses to clean Ed for coming home dirty, Ed goes to a car wash (The L.A. Cahuenga Car Wash).
At the end of the episode, Wilbur sees Ed eating hay.
Wilbur:
Ed, you haven't stopped eating all day. What happened to this new diet you were on to impress that filly, Sabrina?
Mr. Ed:
I told her off and broke up with her. I decided that if she wants to date nice and skinny horses, let her date a giraffe!
