I just watched the "Alan Brady Presents" episode for the 100th time. This time DVR'd from the COSI TV network. I never even knew that Richie sang The Little Drummer Boy in it because I guess it was cut from the TVLand and MeTV versions! Adorable!
I think sometimes it's just done for time slot purposes too. If you had to cut one number from that episode, Richie's would be a logical choice. It's the only one that doesn't take place on the Alan Brady stage and seems kind of tacked on anyway. It's a cute number and the kid had a decent voice.
True. So sometimes songs aren't on the DVD either. I bought the "complete series" of Buffalo Bill (the Dabney Coleman sitcom) , looking forward to seeing him lip-sync to "Hit the Road, Jack" -- only to find that they had omitted that entire episode! How they could call that the "complete" series is beyond me! If I'd been in charge of handling that situation, I'd have kept the video portion of the entire episode but omitted the sound track for the song (and would perhaps have suggested that people buy such-and-such a recording of the song and try to sync it up with the video).
Richie's "Little Drummer Boy" performance is just right -- good but not too good, since the character is not supposed to be a professional singer. reply share
They do it because they can get away with it.
ALWAYS rip off Hollywood, whenever you can.
There is no more bloated industry than that lying, shithole business.
