Diana and Patrick changed so much in a short space of time

I've been watching the series 4-6 and noted how young and attractive both actors were, 1966-67. I think Patrick was early to mid 40s but he looked younger. Diana was very attractive and young.

But 15 years later they had changed so much. Diana looked middle-aged and Patrick I watched in The 1981 Howling movie, time had caught up with him he looked in his mid to late 60s.

Even more time has gone by since then and both are now dead. It makes me sad when I watch those old episodes. Time goes so fast but they are locked in time on screen.

I think Diana Rigg still looks OK in 1981 in the 'Muppets Caper' from what I've seen. She was 43 then. I don't quite know when her looks deteriorated into middle age. She was a heavy smoker so that wouldn't have helped. But certainly in 'The Avengers' she was at her most glamorous in those jumpsuits.

I think actors are different now. They 'hang onto' their youth for much longer. Youth back then seemed very fleeting.

I didn't know Diana was a smoker. That explains much about the way she looked later on.

Yes, keeping hold of youth is everything now. Diana Rigg didn't seem to be bothered about ageing. Even in those days, there were a number of those over in Hollywood who were obsessed by face-lifts which I think is a bit extreme.

I think it's also about maintaining an image as well.
