Newbie looking for recommendations (Emma Peel ones, of course)

I watched the Avengers occasionally as a kid in the '80s but I have no recollection of it...don't even remember if I liked it!

I'm looking for the most mod-tastic Emma Peel episodes...ones that revel in the vibrant colors of the swinging '60s (sooo much better than the washed-out palette filmmakers give us today).

Please recommend me the DVDs where I can best find them...I'm in the US so prefer Region 1, but I can do PAL discs as well.

Thanks!

It does, thanks!

And I think I will get into the b&w eps...Amazon UK has Season 5 up from preorder, and I can play PAL on my multi-region DVD player...however rumor is all of these remastered Avengers MIGHT be released on US dvd...eventually!

That's funny...yes, I've been revisiting all the old '60s shows I watched as a kid on syndication in the '70s and '80s. It started with Bewitched and I've now moved on to the Avengers....!

If any of you are interested, I've posted a review here on imdb for Diana Rigg's obscure "Mini-killers" film. It's spoiler-heavy though, mostly detailing what happens in each installment -- I wrote it really for people who've heard of it but have no idea what exactly happens in it. I also wrote some trivia for it, explaining the reasons behind the project and etc, but for whatever reason imdb hasn't posted it...? I need to re-submit that.

I'm the top reviewer; ignore the 1-star review by the other guy! :)

Back to the Avengers, I look forward to seeing these Riggs episodes; like I wrote, I'm going to wait for the remastered PAL discs coming out in a few months. The last mod-60s spy show I watched was the Prisoner, and that was over a decade ago...and I loved it. I know Avengers is a bit more campy, but that's exactly my sort of thing!

It was Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee that led me to watch THE AVENGERS, obviously I liked what I saw! Michael Gough did the first Cybernauts episode too, so that was another early favorite. I first discovered the series in 1990, thanks to A&E cable, the first time the Honor Blackman shows ever aired in America. A&E also distributed the shows on DVD, but these Region 1 discs are now out of print. "A Touch of Brimstone" was one of 5 that was banned in the US, with Mrs. Peel dressed as the Queen of Sin, and another, "Honey for the Prince," is the one where Diana Rigg wore a harem outfit that left little to the imagination, and in "A Sense of History," her Robin Hood costume completely bares her backside. No wonder worldwide audiences clamored for more! I think the black and white season has the edge over the color, but in either case, you just can't go wrong with luscious Diana Rigg ("Minikillers" looks very interesting).
