As a kid I remember a TV show or movie where two men are shrunk and someone places a hat over both of them. I think it might have been an episode of The Avengers. Does this scene occur in Mission... Highly Improbable or any other The Avengers episode?

Yes, it does occur in "Mission, Highly Improbable." I believe this was the next to last episode in which Diana Rigg appeared as Patrick MacNee's colleague, Mrs. Emma Peel.
The lovely Jane Merrow, who also appeared in "A Lion in Winter" with Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole, portrays the daughter of the scientist who discovers the shrinking ray weapon in this Avengers episode.
Thanks for answering my question. It's funny how I remember that one scene. I must have seen it in the early 70s. I have only a vague memory of The Avengers but I remembered enough of the scene that the style (i.e. the hat) of it seemed to match the show.

You may be able to find many of the Avenger dvds at your local library. My library fortunately has all of the Patrick MacNee and Diana Rigg Avenger episodes on dvd.
