RIP Michael Gough

Sadly, the world must say goodbye to this fine actor, seen in the Cybernauts and The Correct Way to Kill, as well as Alfred in the Tim Burton Batman films. I particularly liked him in the mini-series Sleepers. We salute you sir.

Goodbye Michael . Thanks for the many great performances you gave us , particularly your turn as Mr.Maudsley in "The Go-Between" .
Sure the man who starred in this , "Women in Love" or "The Dresser" deserved a better epitaph than this one : "Mainly remembered for his guest appearances in The Avengers and Doctor Who .

As good as his turn as the Celestial Toymaker was in "Doctor Who" it must be noted that almost every episode has been erased and the "Avengers" episodes where he appeared in were thoroughly awful and possibly the nadir of his career .

R.I.P Michael , you will be missed . And Tim Burton's movies will never be the same without you playing a role in them .

Other three actors who guest starred in the show recently left us , Alfred Burke , T.P McKenna and ( sigh ) Nicholas Courtney . At least these three , unlike Michael , were initially given a good role in the show before a downright embarrassing one .

Great losses all . Nick was a true gentleman in real life apart from one of Doctor Who's most important pillars . And at least I'm glad I saw Alfred's last stage performance when he appeared in "Oedipus" at the National Theatre at the end of 2008 .
