Avengers movie coming to a theater near you!

If you're referring to the Marvel film and comic series of the same name, than that is completely different to this......

BTW, "The Avengers" movie (which was based on this series) was released back in 1998 and starred Ralph Finnes and Uma Thurman. It was neither a commercial or critical success......

I made the same mistake, and have only discovered in the last few minutes that the new Avengers movie everyone is talking about is actually some superhero junk from the US. What a crock.

Mind you, The Avengers, as we know it, is all but unfilmable. The 1998 effort was a huge swing and a miss, but they did at least try to build on the surreal/fantasy elements of the TV series. The problem for me is that The Avengers IS anchored in TV - 4:3, black and white, creaky sets, obvious stuntpeople, "Cold War" style plots - it wouldn't suit being stretched out to the big screen.
