BBC TV Series remake?

I'm surprised this hasn't had a tv series remake yet. With the success of the Dr. Who tv series remake. I'm surprised BBC hasn't even thought of remaking this show. I guess the movie must have been that terrible.

Then don't read it. For crying out loud IMDB sure attracts a lot of whiners.

The Avengers wasn't a BBC production.

I know, but BBC seems to be the only channel doing original TV shows in the UK. And its not like the production company that produce The Avengers is still around.

The Avengers was produced by Associated British Corporation, which was part of ITV, not the BBC. I forget who holds the rights but any remake is doomed to failure, regardless of that abomination of a movie. It was far too distinctive. Doctor Who was built upon a changing cast, but the Avengers was built upon Steed and there is no one like Patrick Macnee and no one has ever come close to Diana Rigg as his partner, though Honor Blackman set the tone (Rigg had better stories and budgets). It was very much a product of its time, as even the New Avengers proved.
