Sir John Dankworth, Britain's first jazz maestro, dies at 82
I just read that Johnny Dankworth passed away on 6 February 2010. He was, for those who don't know, the man behind the Avengers music and countless other shows. R.I.P.

shareHe was one of the great jazz icons of the century . I will always remember him fondly for his work on "Darling" and "Morgan :A Suitable case for treatment" and obviously will forever associate this show with the strong captivating music he composed rather than with the much less memorable Laurie Johnson theme .
Rest in peace John , you will be missed
I've also run across some of Johnny Dankworth's music via the KPM Library. Tracks of his can be found, among other places, on...
KPM 1055: DRAMATIC ACTION
"Tension"
KPM 1061: IMPACT AND ACTION - VOLUME II
"Paper Tiger"
"Time And A Half"
"Hurry"
KPM 326: SOUNDS OF THE 60'S AND 70'S
"Lazy Lady"
KPM 643: THE KPM 1000 SERIES - VOLUME 2
"Time And A Half"
PS: It is completely unnecessary (and totally uncalled-for) to denigrate one composer while trying to praise another.

Sorry, but the Laurie Johnson kicked a**----straight-up--saw THE AVENGERS in the early '80's and loved the theme because it was so exciting and fun. It wasn't until I saw the Steed-Gale shows on A&E in 1990 that I heard the Dankworth theme, and liked that right away--nice,catchy big band jazz stuff. Is that one on a CD compilation somewhere?
