When are the Avengers Being Re-Released on DVD?
The Avengers DVD sets are no longer being sold. On Amazon you can buy copies from outside sources only. Does anyone know if there are plans to re-release the series again? Maybe on blu-ray?

shareI have been thinking the same thing. They need to re-release this show, it's very popular and lot's of people want to buy it.
shareThe Avengers 50th Anniversary DVD Box Set Edition was released in Britain earlier this year. I purchased it and it's very impressive. Containing all the episodes plus a bonus disc of special features and a episode guide as well. The prints have been polished up along with the audio. Well worth getting if you're a fan. It's available on Amazon UK and EBAY as well.
Below is the link to amazon UK with pictures of the boxset as well:

Yeah, it's odd that The Prisoner has had a quite a few DVD re-releases here, but very little for The Avengers.
shareI wonder if there might be legal troubles with Marvel's The Avengers. I know the comic book series was forced to use the name 'Steed and Peel' because of them.
shareNop. Marvel's rights only extend to the title as a comic book series, which is why the UK duo had to be called Steed and Peel in the comics, but the movie version still retained the title "The Avengers."
I assume A&E's rights have expired, but who now has them, I have no clue. They may be waiting for the US anniversary for a re-release, or may be negotiating for extras. Lordknows, I would love to have episode commentaries or at least interviews with everyone. I'm sure US interest mainly revolves around the Emma Peel series, which remained in print longer than either the Tara King or Cathy Gale episodes. I suspect the Avengers will be back in Blu-Ray, though the footage may need some cleaning up.
"Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!"
Emma Peel Megaset is coming out again on October 8. The episodes available on Hulu suggest that Studio Canal now owns the rights.
You are correct.
I purchased the newly released Emma Peel Megaset at Barnes & Noble back in December for $25.00. They've done away with the separate cases in the box and replaced it with all the discs in one plastic snap case (which I'm not very pleased with as the discs tend to come loose and rattle around in the case). Amazon currently is selling it for approximately $32.00. Aside from the inferior packaging it is a good deal.
