Why do they hardly ever use false names? In "The House That Jack Built" we are shown newspaper articles and a radio clip about Emma Knight as she was then. I imagine her wedding was all over the social pages so why do none of the villains recognise her? I would further imagine that most foreign intelligence services are aware of John Steed as well.

I get that. It doesn't rank at all on the most ridiculous things about the series, but I just thought they might have made a bit of effort - even The Doctor sometimes calls himself John Smith, although admittedly very few fall for that.

I guess it's like James Bond probably being the publicly best-known secret agent in the world. Hotel clerks and crooks recognise him right away (though not the San Francisco police, in spite of obviously having heard his name as well), so why should this be different with the Avengers?
