2 More Avengers Eps On True Entertainment Today With Wrong End Credits

I can't believe it after I mentioned THE CYBERNAUTS had End Credits For THE MURDER MARKET
At 8pm -9pm Apr 17th Season 4 Ep 2 THE GRAVEDIGGERS Had End Credits For Season 4 Ep 10 DIAL A DEADLY NUMBER and at 12pm-1am They Showed DIAL A DEADLY NUMBER With End Credits of
Season 4 Ep 4 DEATH AT BARGAIN PRICES What The Hell Is Going On At True Entertainment?
How Could They Allow Episodes To Be Shown Like That?

It's Bad Enough Episodes Of TV Series And Movies Being Butchered By TV Stations To Fit Ads In, And Announcers Talking Over End Of Progs About Other Progs Following, And Even Speeding Up Credits So You Cannot Read Them etc But Cocking Up The End Credits Like This I Believe Is One Step Too Far.

1994 I Became A Professional Video Cameraman And Shot Many Films And Even Did Editing On Low Budget Horror Movie But What They Have Done To Avengers Is Worst Editing Job
I Have Ever Seen.

I Don't Know If True Entertainment Themselves Edited Eps Or Not But Whoever Did It Should Damn Well Be Ashamed Of Themselves.

Can only agree. In the past two weeks, there have been several episodes in a row which had the final credits for "Castle De'ath" tacked on. In addition, the information blurb given for the episode in the onscreen menus is often wrong: "The Cybernauts" had the plot of "The Thirteenth Hole". Not sure what True Entertainment is up to.

Yes I've noticed that. I'm catching episode at 3pm on True Entertainment and the information blurb is nearly always wrong, even if only the episode number (on freesat at least).

I can't understand why anyone at True Entertainment would have the time or the inclination to mess around with the tapes/film. Surely they just buy the tapes and broadcast them so I can only assume they bought them like it. I don't know ????

Just watched (a recording of) Honey for the Prince, the last of the black and white Emma Peel episodes, and when the end credits began, they quickly faded out ... to be replaced by colour credits from the next season! This is not just an error, someone at True Drama/True Entertainment is doing this for a reason.

It's difficult to imagine how this could be accidental. They briefly reverted to applying the correct credits but it's business as usual again, now. I have the feeling That the channel's employees are taking the whizz. Perhaps they're bored? I wonder if they're contravening the terms of the channel's license to broadcast the programme by messing about like this?

Incidentally, I also note that the continuity announcer, speaking over the end credits, always mis-names one of the channels in her announcement. And have they altered the aspect ratio in which they broadcast the programme since they first started? I'm sure I didn't have to zoom the picture before (losing the picture head and foot in so doing).

I noticed that as well. While the credits are on they sometimes say "Next on True Entertainment ..." followed by "Next on True Entertainment ..." when they mean one of their other channels. Not sure why they have this problem, but I'm glad they are showing the episodes, albeit out of order. The first half of S4 was all over the place!

Did True Entertainment perhaps show them in production order rather than order as first broadcast? According to David K Smith's excellent (but now mothballed) website on the Avengers (Avengers Forever), he says that Canal+, the rights holders of the show, organised episodes by production order on their own website. He provides a link to illustrate the point but that link is now dead (unsurprising, as his own site has not been updated in a long while).

Or perhaps they went by US first transmission order rather than UK order?

More likely, though, broadcaster True Entertainment just made a hash of it.

Even worse is that films longer than about 95 mins are cut to fit into their 2 hour time slots.

Anybody ever see when The CBS Late Movie ran "THE NEW AVENGERS" ?

The 1st time around (1978-79), ALL the opening theme songs were MISSING.

The 2nd time, 2 years later (1980-81), they put the theme songs back. But, they started the pilot episode 5 MINUTES early, causing me to put up with a videotape for several years that had the entire opening of the story missing. Also, when they moved the show from Fridays at 11:30 to Mondays at 12:40, they skipped my favorite episode entirely. Later, during a news bulletin, about 5 minutes in the middle of another episode was cut.

The 3rd time around, 4 years later (1984-85), they pulled a DOUBLE-butcher job. They started CUTTING random bits out of some scenes-- AND, the entire episodes were SPED UP. All to make more time for commercials. And this, in a 70-min. time slot.

Years later, when A&E got ahold of the 2nd & 3rd seasons, they cut 8-1/2 MINUTES from every episode. I had the ONE available episode on videotape at the time for comparison ("Death Of A Great Dane"). It's amazing the stories still made sense.

Watched an episode tonight on COZI. (S7 ep11" Look...these two fellers" - clown murderers)

It was so chopped up that they edited out dialog (punchlines a joke writer recites) so sloppily that half of the punchline was still in the Closed Captioning. Why would you edit 1/2 of a joke?
"Knock, knock? . . . Lemon!, ha ha" - Pitiful.

And still no end credits, as someone complained about on another Avengers board.

Another member and I were also lamenting the speeding up, and shrinking down of credits, but I can't even remember if it was on an Avengers board.

Please use the elevator, the stairs are currently stuck between floors

For some reason Cozi refuses to run the end credits for the Avengers. The only show they have on that channel that does that. It's annoying to have to look up these episodes online the next day to see a name.

I'm a great one for lamenting "credits abuse", to coin a term, so it might've been me.

I get why syndicated TV programs are ruthlessly sliced, diced, squeezed, sped up, and otherwise mutilated to allow networks and sponsors to get more bang for their buck.

The bean-counters along the line have zero respect for the programs and the people who made them possible. It's just "content".

This is wrong as two left shoes.

Not to worry, the proper credits for Honey For The Prince can be found jammed (clunkily) on the end of True Entertainment's copy of A Sense Of History (2 episodes earlier)
