The Avengers really is a fabulous show. I have never seen another show like it.

I tend to prefer the episodes where the Avengers are going up against a clever criminal as opposed to foreign agents.

These episodes all embody the weird, surreal elements that made the show famous. Bizarre situations, larger than life characters, quirky humour and done with a very British attitude and mentality. Simply put, no other show did what "The Avengers" did which is why it would always be unique and distinctive.
