A Touch of Brimstone was banned in America in the 60's.

The episode A Touch of Brimstone was also slightly cut in Britain when it originally aired.

However it seems to be one of the most popular episodes of The Avengers. The episode does not seem particularly controversial today. It shows you how times have changed.

In a time of I Dream Of Jeannie and Bewitched, The Dick Van Dyck show etc. when people were concerned over belly buttons showing and Mary Tyler Moore wearing pants! An episode featuring a drunken orgy and Emma Peel being whipped while dressed as a dominatrix was hugely controversial!
