Really bad, most series make a reference to Jack the Ripper at sometime and the Avengers really doesn't come up to the mark, what a pity.

I found this episode to be enjoyable and memorable for its atmosphere and tone. This is the closest we will get to a time travel Avengers episode. Here we are in 1960s Britain, but feel like we're in Victorian London. The episode could only take place in Avengersland as I'm sure 60s Britain was nothing like this! (Apparently by this time Libdon didn't have the fog problem it once had with the passing of a clean air act)

Dealing with a potential copycat serial killer is a bit off for The Avengers, but having it involve foriegn delegates ties this into Avengers territory. It is full of Avengers quirks with The gaslight ghoul club and Mother and Rhonda traveling around on the mini moke. Love the touches with the knife sharpener and the carriage sounds in the fog. Very eerie, and the studio bound sets add a clostrophobic feel. Also Tara's Red outfit with fur is a standout. Yes it could have been improved but still a good installment.
