OT: Let's Play A Game
If you could be a character in a Hitchcock film, which one would you be?
And why?
If you could be a character in a Hitchcock film, which one would you be?
And why?
I will pick John Robie, played by Cary Grant, in "To Catch a Thief" (1955).
First of all...I would look like Cary Grant? (Face, trim muscular body, tan). He really looked his best at age 50 in To Catch a Thief. Came "North by Northwest" four years later, he was a bit grayer and a bit leathery.
Second...I would be both an ace circus acrobat AND a WWII hero who had killed 40 some odd Nazis (for a parole -- not a pardon -- for my OTHER profession...jewel thief.)
But even if I did NOT look like Cary Grant(face or body) and was NOT an acrobat and was NOT a WWII hero(who wants the police trouble of being a jewel thief?)
...I would LOVE the LIFESTYLE of John Robie.
Pretty much retired (though didn't he say he raises those top-floor flowers for sale?) at the age of 50, living in a mountaintop villa on the French Riviera with a great view and an ocean nearby for swimming, motorboating and sailing. And casinos for gambling. And fine cuisine.
Getting up every morning with nothing to REALLY do but relax -- with my housekeeper and chef(who strangled a Nazi General with her bare hands "without a sound") making breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for me.
And evidently doing pretty well with the ladies too -- would I HAVE to get married? Even to Grace Kelly(with her mother?)
John Robie for me.
