OT: "He Did It!" Clint Eastwood Completes Cry Macho -- And Will be A Leading Man at Age 90
(Its been awhile since I've posted OT here. This is worth it.)
Rumor was that Clint Eastwood, at age 90, was going to go in front of the camera again(maybe for the last time, but maybe not) for a movie called "Cry Macho."
The concerns were that, during this time of pandemic, Eastwood might not get the movie up and made in time for him to act at this advanced age.
But Eastwood makes his movies quickly and efficiently -- "no muss, no fuss" -- and evidently he has completed "Cry Macho" for release in 2021(when he will be 91). Limited release in theaters, same day release on "HBO Max."
This is movie history. No major leading man has ever starred above the title in a movie at age 90.
Some character guys like Ernest Borgnine and Eli Wallach acted on screen past 90...but nobody at Clint's level of stardom. And he has KEPT that stardom -- no TV series since Rawhide, or HBO movies.

Additionally: I learned this when looking at a quick teaser on HBO Max for all the Warner Brothers movies they will release "day and date" with theaters in 2021.
They had been pushing "Wonder Woman 1984" for so long I forgot that they have other movies to release this way in 2021.
Next up in January: Superstar Denzel Washington in "The Little Things," a serial-killer-hunt movie. Evidently Denzel's reps have not only guaranteed his up-front fee of $20 million; they have worked out a formula with HBO Max to duplicate "big back-end percentages." How you pay for that when movies aren't in theaters, I don't know.
And in March: The Saints of Newark, I believe it is called. That's the Sopranos prequel where we will see Livia and Uncle Junior younger in the 60's; Tony Soprano as a pre-teen(played by James Gandolfini's own son) and a re-cast "Johnny Soprano" -- the scary mobster who was Tony's dad. (A good actor played him on The Sopranos, but they are going with a bigger name. Actually, TWO actresses played Young Livia Soprano on the series in flashbacks, but they are going with Mrs. Bates herself, Vera Farmiga, this time.)
Some other month: Cry Macho. Movie history. Hope its good.
PS. Given today's health and medical regimens. a number of current stars may well follow Clint into leading man at 90 status -- aging isn't the problem though. Staying a star is. Johnny Depp is off the list...
