Amazing Article About "24 Suriviving Hitchcock Actors"

And dammit, I can't get you the link.

Its in Indiewire, last coupla days.

It was "inspired"(sadly) by the passing of Barbara Harris, and goes on to note 24 surviving Hitchcock players and their ages.

Here from memory are some of them(in descending name/age order):

Norman Lloyd(Saboteur, Spellbound) 103!

Nehemiah Persoff(The Wrong Man) 99! (I thought he was dead!)

Doris Day (MWKTM) 96!

Rhonda Fleming (Spellbound) 95! (I thought SHE was dead!)

Eva Marie Saint 94 (Unlike the others above -- except Norman Lloyd -- how visible she's been in recent years, I hope she hangs in with more appearances..but she doesn't need to)

Brigitte Auber 93 (To Catch a Thief) the "young French girl" grew up.

Michel Piccoli 92 (Topaz)

Pat Hitchcock 90! (Psycho, Strangers on a Train, Stage Fright) she outlived her father's age at death (80) by ten years...and still going.

Katherine Helmond 90 (Mrs. Joe Maloney in Family Plot -- outlived Harris and Black among the ladies)

That's quite a few Hitchcock veterans in that ever-growing cohort of the 90's, and perhaps some poised to join Norman Lloyd in his 100s.

The 80 somethings are big enough names, too:

Vera Miles 89 (Unseen for decades?)

Sean Connery 88 (Retired yet Clint Eastwood still works at this age)

Tippi Hedren 87

Kim Novak 85

Shirley MacLaine 84 (I've always banked on her to last a long time)

Jean March (Frenzy) 84 (The leading men of that film -- Finch, Foster, and McCowen -- are all passed. Anna Massey too, I think.)

Julie Andrews 83 (Torn Curtain)...not a great film, but a famous singer-actress(like Doris Day.)

Bruce Dern 82 (Marnie, Family Plot). There he is. The most visible of the bunch on the list above him, yes? Very fit man. He's a long distance runner(50 miles or so a day in his youth.) Though MacLaine is still working I think.

Barbara Leigh-Hunt 82 (Frenzy) Strangled 46 years ago in Frenzy; see how much longer she would have lived, at least, in real life?

William Devane 81 (Family Plot) Close to Dern's age. Hard to believe men who were once that young are now that old.

The list bottoms out with some "sort of shocking" ones:

Jerry Mathers(The Trouble With Harry, Leave it To Beaver.) Beaver is 70. (And a comment to the article tells us that the boy who played the kidnapped Hank in Man Who Knew Too Much is now -- 71!)

Veronica Cartwright (68) -- Kathy in The Birds.

NOTE: The article claims that Karin Dor of Topaz is still alive at 80; a commenter says, no , she died last year.

---

There are a few more names in that article and little biographical notes on each one, but those were the key names to me.

Interesting to see how many 90 and 80 year olds there still are. It seems that more and more humans -- particularly well off and pampered actors -- can make it closer and closer to 100 these days.

(Apologies for any wrong math. To paraphrase Roger Thornhill's secretary: "It's late and I'm tired.)
