What role do you see her serving too the story. I have seen others suggest that she would leave and maybe the detective searching for her would be the first killed. If so How could it all be tied in. Would Marion still be worked back into the story like Meg Tilly as a love interest or would it be like the nun where he helps her get her life back together?

An intriguing idea. This way, one would still get SOME version of Psycho(with Murderous Mother and her knife)...but....Marion would survive.

Oh, one or the other. The problem is, Norman would still be a killer. But perhaps a Marion who stays alive to the end could help bring him to justice with greater compassion than otherwise. She could become "his new mother." A good mother.
Interesting premise. Maybe He could've been reached by her and stopped the murderous impulses before it got out of control. He was attracted to her, thought she was a caring individual and if they could continue having great conversations like the palor maybe her voice could override mother's.
