Should I bother with the 2016 remake ?

Just watched them back to back. The secondary characters are more developed and the action in the second half is bigger. I respect it for not remaking key scenes from the original western, like this one did with the original samurai movie. I won't spoil it for you.

Don't bother. Like most post-1980 westerns, it feels like a western made by people who have never seen westerns. There may be more development to the secondary characters, but even so, you care far less about them than you did for any of the characters in the 1960 film. The action is bigger, but unrealistic in a modern, Hollywood video-game style. Plus, the lack of a Mexican setting, the key element of the original series, is a definite let-down. Maybe watch it when it comes on Encore Westerns, but don't buy it, not even for 3 bucks in the grab bin at WalMart.

Yes, the 2016 version is awesome.

Watch the 1960 version instead. Don't worry, it's in color.
