McQueen Upstaging Brynner

Seeing the film a second time, it's obvious how McQueen tries to steal the spotlight from Yul when they share a scene, like twirling his hat or his shotgun.

No wonder Yul threatened to do his scenes without his hat, making sure his bald head would be the focus!

reply

Yeah, whenever I watch it now I make sure to pay attention to all those little extra movements McQueen put in with his scenes

reply

I find it funny that instead of thinking "I should be better, so I'm sure the scene won't be stolen!", he reacts like a little baby.

reply

You're an IDIOT. McQueen stole it from him because he's cunning and smart. He did what he had to do because of his limitations.

reply

Stole it? That's Yul Brenner's, Charlie Bronson's and Eli Wallach's movie, not McQueen's.

Short Cut, Draw Blood

reply

McQueen stole it from everybody you DOLT

reply

Never thought that. I saw the movie in in the theater house three times before I was 12, and have seen it countless times since.

This movie belongs to Buchinsky & Yul, stunad.

Because McQueen was the horniest doesn't mean he stole the movie.

Horst Buchholz had more presence than Steve in this movie.

reply

Haha Host Bucholtz was moronic. That loser had no range whatsoever. I bet you think Henry Winkler is an Oscar contender

reply

Couldn't care less about the oscars.

As usual, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Short Cut, Draw Blood

reply

It's called "pulling focus." It's not about acting chops, it's about how the audience's eyes are naturally pulled to movement.

Read all about the feud on the trivia pg. Good read. Yul wanted McQueen then regretted it when he saw what Steve was doing. McQueen apologized late in their lives. Thanking Yul for not throwing him off the movie and giving him the role that launched his career. Always read the trivia pg. before going to the message board it'll answer questions.
