RIP: Guitarist & Composer Al Caiola dies at 96


CAIOLA Alexander 'Al,' a previous longtime resident of Oradell, residing in South Palm Beach, Florida and Hackensack, passed away at the age of 96 on November 9, 2016. Al was a renowned musician who has done movie and TV themes, such as "Bonanza," "Hawaii Five-O," "The Magnificent 7" and many more. In addition he has created and been featured on over 50 albums and CDs, as well as performed with great artists, such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Rosemary Clooney, Buddy Holly, and Tony Bennet to name a few. He toured with Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme' for many years. During WWII, Al served in the U.S. Marines, where he played alongside Swing Era bandleader Bob Crosby performing through much of the Pacific Theater, until the band was assigned to active combat units at Iwo Jima. Al enjoyed boating and cars. Survived by his loving wife, Rosalie, of 69 years. Missed by his beloved children Alexander Caiola Jr., and Sandra and Robert Ayres. Adored grandfather to Danielle, Natalie, Heather, and Alex, as well as great-grandfather to Sandy, Gabby, Blake, and Scarlett. The best of all he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11th from 4-6 PM at the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ. A religious service will be offered at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow to the Garden of Memories in Washington Township.
