I had a dream that raised an interesting question.

In the movie, all the bandits (as far as we know) are killed during the climactic fight, except for a few who manage to escape. Last night I had a dream that was like a scene left out of the final theatrical version. There were a few bandits who surrender, and after a brief discussion among themselves, Chris has the bandits hanged. The dream left me with a bad taste in my mouth (metaphorically speaking); but wondering what would have happened if some of the bandits survived the fight and managed to surrender. (Although in the movie the farmers didn't seem in a taking-prisoners mood.)

They could have held them for the next time the rurales passed through the village, although the rurales were known for their summary justice, usually involving a firing squad.

So ignoring the post from the idiot, does anyone with a brain have any thoughts? I mean about the ethical questions that would come up with regard to prisoners if the Seven and the farmers had actually taken any. I was thinking they could string up any prisoners outside the village with some kind of warning sign, "This is what we do to bandits. Keep riding, muchacho."

I'm guessing they would let them go. They were only really a threat when they were part of a big gang under Calvera. Can't see Chris or the villagers wanting to hang them after they beat them.
