Am I the only one who'd like to see...

Am I the only one who would like to see a NON-MUSICAL remake of this, directed by Tim Burton? Only things I would do differently is keep the love triangle from the musical... and make the ending between Audrey Jr. and Seymour more exciting.

Would be amazing. I'll tell you what, get ahold of Tim and tell him I'll even throw 100$ on it. That should get it rolling

I would actually LOVE to see a Tim Burton remake of this movie. It would rock. Because, one: Little Shop of Horrors, both versions are dark comedies. two: Tim Burton works well with dark comedies.

The music is the best part of Little Shop!

That... is a BRILLIANT.... GENIUS.... idea.

FOrget about Tim Burton. Henry Selick would be the right man to direct.

It's Roger Corman's film... maybe he should remake it. That is, unless he's retired or has died just this morning.

No-no, gang, I'M the one who should direct it.

Let's all pitch in and make it together.

I'd rather see the 1986 version with the original ending before it was re-filmed.

We come into this world naked, screaming, and covered in blood. Why should the fun end there?

As genius as Tim Burton is, I would personally like to see a Terry Gilliam remake. I can well imagine this with the unique visual style and humour of the Monty Python series and Brazil. He has a new film called The Brothers Grimm, which looks very Burton in story. I think his visual touch would be well placed in a Little Shop remake.

Anyone agree?

I always thought a remake from David Cronenberg (ala The Fly style) would be quite scary. It would be much more realistic, and scientific story-wise, and sans-singing and humor.

reply

I think they should make it like nightmare before christmas and with songs thats what makes the movie great. That would be awesome if tim burton did that

reply

No you most definately are not. I have been in several productions of this play, and i have always been Orin Scrivello. But I was just thinking the other day that burton seems to be the man for the job

reply

Yeah. Make a remake from anyone. I hated the musical. I want to see the dark comedic classic on the big screen and I dont care who directs it.

reply

I love the musical, and I think Tim Burton would do great with a remake of the musical. They are both very dark comedies. I say stick with the original (better) musical ending except add Mean Green Mother From Outer Space, because that is the best song ever.

Simple Answer: No, No, No!!!!

Money and special effects would kill the movie and all that was good. It would be like the 1986 musical remake with all stars and glory but failed to capture the joys of Corman's quickie. (Of course screwing the ending certainly was a mistake.) Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam would over emphasize the special effects of the plant and and wicked sarcasm would be lost.

The original was nearly perfect in terms of attitude, energy, and fun.

reply

Ugh, no. I'm tired of Tim Burton. He'd just recycle ideas from his other films, including putting Johnny Depp in the lead, wearing eyeliner.

reply

Well the rest of these posts were from seven years ago. People weren't sick of Tim Burton back then.

It would probably star Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter.

I would agree 10 or more years ago, but lately tim burton does only crappy un-watchable movies.
He was my favourite director in 80's and 90's, and even in eraly 2000's, but every next movie he does is terrible.
So no - I wouldn't want to see him doing this remake, not now.
