When I saw this as a sweaty-palmed, pimply-faced post-pubescent teen, I was scared by it too.
But I was also turned on by the babe/victims, especially Marsha with her gown with the straps that refused to stay up.

shareI saw this movie as an early teen. It freaked me out, which means it was a great B horror flick. In today's definition, this movie would really be more of a, 'suspense thriller'.
One creepy scene really freaked me out. The detective is interviewing one of the female victims who is sitting in her sofa chair in the dark. After the interview, the woman puts a cigarette to her lips and the detective flicks his lighter on for the woman. The lighter's flame illuminates the woman's horribly scarred face, caused when she washed her own face in acid, as it turned out, under the secret hypnotic spell.
