Sound engineering

Did anyone notice the presence of extremely low frequency rumblings and other sonic artefacts in this movie? I am surprised that so much attention went into it. Note for example what happens when mourning over the coffin. First there's that ultra-low tone, which is then broken by the solemn statement of the man. There has been some research into the feelings of dread and awe inspired by such sounds, even when they aren't heard but barely felt.

For example:

But what really surprises me is the quality of the sound production. A lot of bandwidth for a magnetic tape from 1960.

Yes, I really like the soundtrack of this movie, I think it's Corman's best Poe film, and the script and sound production get along very well.
