This movie gave a false idea of it. For one thing, Osage OK never was anything like that large a town.
I got very tired of the see saw relationship in this marriage.
I watched it because I had seen Giant recently and was in the mood for another historical family saga, but is so far inferior to Giant, unfortunately (I say that because I am an Oklahoman).
I didn't care for either Edna Ferber book, for that matter.

Yes, Edna Ferber, of the New York City elite knew everything that was wrong with Texas and Oklahoma. Her books and films based on them have to be read with awareness of where she is coming from. Not that she did not have a right to her point of view but her implied judgements should not be considered as free of this elitist NYC bias.

I haven't read the book and probably won't in this lifetime. But I will say that I enjoyed this film better than the earlier Tulsa.

I think the book may have been better served by a TV mini-series adaption, but of course they weren't really happening back in 1960.
