I have a question about characters... well, one in particular. In the beginning when Marianne is in the coach and the coachman stops to move the log in the road, a sinister looking man jumps on the back of the carriage.
Who was this man? You see him later paying off the driver (presumably to leave without the girl) and standing in the doorway of the inn glaring at Marianne, then nothing. No explaination and you don't see him again except in shadow when the Baroness and Marianne are leaving the inn.
There are a few plot holes in the movie that are interesting, but none the less they don't detract from enjoying the movie.

He's a disciple "only human" and he's bribing the driver to leave her behind, so that The Baroness can get her

Some other plot holes: The couple are the inn are clearly scared out of their wits and fearful for Marianne. Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just warn her that the old bitch the baroness is a pimp for her son? Also, the maid Greta, is distraught over the fact that the Baroness's son has escaped. Later, however, she's clearly out of her mind and helping one of the Baron's brides leave her grave.

Its always puzzled me why the Baron was chained up in his room. Couldnt he have turned into a bat and would have been small enough to slip out of the chains around his feet?

Having grown up with the Hammer films and many others from the 50s and 60s, it should again be noted that in those days, attention to the kind of details listed in this thread was not thought about. Again, today's audience needs to remind themselves that films like the Brides of Dracula were never intended to be taken seriously and were done strictly as entertainment. The thought of these films being scrutinized some 50 years after they were made is something the film makers were not thinking about at the time they were made. In an era without DVDs, Internet access and satellite programming, the most these films were used for were Horror-fests at the local drive-in theatre. And trust me, no one was there to watch the movie. :)

Oh right, and today's Hollywood blockbusters have such fine scripts and make total narrative sense! What a lot of complete bollocks.

No one was there to watch the movie? Then why would they go there? Why would a young man take a girl to a drive-in theatre and sit inside a darkened car with her if not to watch the film? I mean, what else would they be doing in the dark?

alan-cole6 - The chain and cuff around his ankle were super-shiny, indicating that they were silver.

A variation on one of the a-la-carte legend features; silver bullets kill vampires, silver burns vampires, apparently in this case silver restricts vampires.

The screenplay infamously went through several revisions at the hands of several different writers, which explains why there are so many loose ends.

Over all HAMMER broke the rules of vamps all the time.
In Horror the good doctor says a vamp cannot turn into a bat and here in BOD he does this very thing.

In prince this new thing with running water say what? Don't these guys ever wash?
In the next film having to pray to make the stake/cross work c'mon
