I love this movie, too! The script is amazing and I thought the performances were first rate as well.

I'm not sure how many times I've seen this movie but each time I watch it I get something new from it and that's the sign of a fabulous movie in my opinion.

The ending, starting at the restaurant, gets me every time. A perfect movie in every way. And I'll throw in some love for Fred MacMurray - even though his character was a real cad.

Just finished watching it on TCM-such an engaging film, find myself both loving and loathing the characters at the same time.

"Twilight follows the brightest day, And every cat in the twilight’s gray,
Every possible cat."

McMurray was one of the all time best at playing a weasely underhanded guy. I'd only known him as the Absent Minded Professor and Steve Douglas until I was in my teens when I started catching some of these old movies on the late show.

Just watched for the first time -- so awesome!

Oh, I love a picnic. Acres and acres of sand and all of it in your food.

Sensational story that still holds up in the modern day. Lemon was off the chart and their chemistry was perfect. Wilder knew how to make em alright!

Nice to see others say it's their favorite. The Apartment has been my favorite film in any genre for many years. I am a movie addict and I watch all kinds of films, new and old (even very old). This movie strikes a balance of drama and mild comedy and the characters seem so real to me. Even the NYC setting seems real to me (though I know it wasn't really shot there). The way this film pulls you in, gets you interested in the characters and plot right away and never lets go, is not all that common. A perfect mix of direction, writing, casting, acting, cinematography, musical scoring.

It is my all time favorite too. Just watched it again today. The main theme always makes me so nostalgic about that era even i was born in late 90s. :(

Agree. A terrific move: very modern, and holds up well. I'm not as fond of Billy Wilder's movies after the mid-Fifties but this one's an exception. I especially like Edie Adams in the low-keyed role of the secretary, a change of pace from her often more flamboyant acting.
