It is coming on the Encore Western Channel on 3-7-11!

It starts at 8 P.M. EST. Please double check your local tv guide for the time in your area. It will be on that same channel several times over the next two months so you can also check you local tv guide for those alternate times. This day (March 7th) was one day after the seige was over. This version is good but it is not a director's cut but it is worth seeing especially if you have never seen it but as written it does not have cut scenes discussed. The cut scenes are available at reasonable prices on the video version of the directors cut and you can order copies from Amazon, etc. at reasonable prices. I think TCM posts the director's cut from the video and I will post that when it comes there. Enjoy!

It's been on Encore Western twice since yesterday afternoon...

I'll never understand why they all didn't flee north after it was known that help wasn't coming - a military ratio of 200 to thousands just doesn't make sense...

I've tried to understand the reasons why they chose to stay and fight, but even then it just doesn't make sense, because, as Jim told Davy, "live to fight another day"...

A former co-worker of mine had a great-great uncle who died there (a private by the name of MB Clark, though there were two Clarks killed that day) - my old co-worker is in his 90's now (and living in Texas), and I'd be interested to ask him the above question, though it seems the defeat as historians often state turned the tide of Texas independence, so perhaps their staying was Divine destiny...

Travis had promised Houston that he would buy him every minute possible by holding the Alamo (this is reiterated during the movie a few times) and was doing his best to hold to that promise. He bought 13 days, plus possibly more as Santana had to regroup before he could march on.
