Notice the accent?

In the very first scence of the movie when Travis (Laurence Harvey) speaks to Houston (Richard Boone), Harvey displays quite a thick southern accent. However for the entire rest of the film he speaks in his natural accent which is quite British.

Got to be honest, we Brits (Although Harvey was Czech born) aren't great at American accents, but vice versa. Check out Dick Van Dyke's 'cockney' accent in Mary Poppins. Though Johnny Depp's really good as Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates...' and Inspector Abbeline in 'From Hell'.

Hugh Laurie does an excellent American accent in House.

Chloe Sevigny's character in THE BROWN BUNNY was supposed to be English, but it's difficult to tell if her accent is good because most of the time she's speaking with her mouth full.

The original poster is right about Travis' (Laurence Harvey's) accent in the movie, but overall I thought he was an excellent Will Travis.
