Things I learned watching "The Alamo"
1-Colonel Travis had a British accent.
2-David Crockett could knock you out with one punch.

3)When a slave was freed by his master and told to escape certain death, said slave hung around anyway to get killed.
4) You can travel on horseback to Texas from Tennessee, carrying your dress-up clothes and shoes and not bother to bathe or shave before changing into them.
5) Frankie Avalon can wear a skunk on his head throughout the film and no one ever comments on it.
6) Did anyone notice any outhouses, either in the Alamo or at Santa Ana's camp?
7)Why was Dickinson's family there, but Travis's wasn't?
8)Frankie Avalon can ride hellbent for leather to Houston's camp from the Alamo, but doesn't even get off his horse for a few seconds to stretch his legs!
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?
"7)Why was Dickinson's family there, but Travis's wasn't?"
I don't get the question. Was every defender's family supposed to be there? That would have taken an Alamo at least three times bigger than it actually was. And in fact the movie exaggerates the number of defender families inside the compound at the time of the siege. As it happened, Travis was divorced and had abandoned his family back in Alabama. I believe he and his wife split custody of the children, Travis taking his son, whom he had left for safekeeping with a friend while he was involved in the war.
9-Houston didn't like Travis.
share10. Travis could shoot a Mexican cavalryman clean off his horse at a distance using only a pistol
11. John Wayne's Crockett can be run through with a spear yet still disable an attacker by swiping at him with a torch
That is actually historically accurate. Few people actually liked Travis;he was one of those people who rubbed everybody the wrong way.
shareDavy Crockett, one of the shortest men to serve in the US Congress, could be played by John Wayne, one of the tallest actors of his time.
