Maybe I'm wrong?

But it seems in my limited viewing of this show (I just received the DVD set) that these episodes would be FAR better suited to a 1/2 hour format. It just seems as if most are padded to the nth degree. Twilight Zone and even more so, Night Gallery did many similar stories in half the time or less and had equally or in many cases, more memorable episodes. From what I've seen so far, I'd love to know what Stephen King was smoking when he said this was the scariest TV series ever. Maybe I'm just watching the wrong episodes?

The very early episodes are dull. I thought everybody knew that.

I've watched many episodes from different parts of the show, and besides "Guillotine" "Yours truly, Jack the Ripper" and maybe one or two more this series is a snooze-fest. I'm TRYING to like this show as I'm a huge fan of anthology horror/fantasy but this is testing my limits!

If you honestly didn't like "The Cheaters", "Hungry Glass", "The Incredible Dr. Markeson", "Well of Doom", "La Strega","The Grim Reaper" etc... you are beyond help and should go back to watching Tales From the Darkside reruns.

Once you get past the crime shows (very much like Alfred Hitchcock's hour long show), and get into the horror, you should be liking it better.

Gonna take you up on that, and watch those episodes. Are you guys big TZ/Night Gallery fans as well? Or are you more interested in Hitchcock/Outer Limits, etc. I'd like to hear what anthology/horror programs you guys like.

I really love Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitckcock Presents. Night Gallery is interesting but I don't rank it as highly as the other two. Outer Limits...I've never actually watched any of the original series but for some reason enjoy the remake (certain episodes anyway) I thought the remake of Twilight Zone was just awful though.

So far I've watched the first 7 episodes - several of them were based on novels (by William O'Farrell, Charlotte Armstrong, and Margaret Millar) and the problem with these episodes was actually that they weren't long enough, making the stories seem rushed because they obviously had to omit much from their source.
