Cathy isn't good enough for Roy

She's nice enough and all but she's no Hayley!

I think it would have been more realistic for Roy to have remained single, he doesn't seem the type to 'need' anyone in his life. He's very independent and self sufficient, he just seems to be making do with Cathy.

Royston is my favourite character.
I cannot see him ever loving anyone but Hayleh.
I am too not keen on Catheh and Royston together. There is very little chemistry between them.
She does not have the appeal and intellect for Royston.

I have always wanted Roy and Anna to become a couple. I think they would be perfect for each other. They already have a very close friendship which could develop into something more.

reply

I keep forgetting she's on the show until she pops up.

Roy has his own mind in most matters so I don't know why he allowing himself to be cajoled into a 'relationship' by Cathy? Why is Cathy trying to drum support for a flat for Alex when she has a whole house going to waste?

reply

I think that it's going to be a companion-marriage rather than a big love scenario, which is fine. I can't see many women being romantically attracted to Roy, smart and decent though he is.

reply

I said before that Cathy had a cheek saying to Roy that she and Alex came "as a package". When he met her she was a single woman and she moved into his flat as a friend but suddenly he had Alex there as well.

She knows what Roy's like and expects too much from him. The tangled love life of her vile sister isn't really his problem but he is dealing with it in the best way he knows how.

reply

I can't stand the Cathy character. She is so entitled and Anna eggs her on. I didn't like Anna walking on Roy and Hayley's mattress either. The two of them are too tedious along with Alex. Not a good storyline for Roy at all.

It was a lovely episode tonight - when Roy said how Hayley was extraordinary because she was born as one person and lived as another which gave her the ability to see things from another perspective. She was awesome was Hayley and so is Roy and even if he does just want companionship then, as Windy said, Cathy just isn't Roy's equal on any level

(that sounds a lot harsher than I meant!)

For once I disagree with you (and Roy).
You don't have to be "born as one person and live as another" in order to see things from other perspectives - it's of course possible to decentralise from yourself (a skill which admittedly is more and more rare) - but we all have unique experiences of life and any combination of life-changing moments affects the person you become. You don't have to be transgender to be extraordinary/awesome... we all can be!

I don't, and never did, get the Hayley-love-in. I never thought she was that special and found her rather simpering if anything. However I accept that others found her charming and flawless so as you were 

I am ANYTHING but a pugnacious upstart

I agree. He should be single or at least with someone he can share a peaceful life with.
