Ludicrous fake road sign

Road signs in England are always made with san serif fonts (the old ones often in capital letters) for ease of reading at distances, so there's no way that road sign Tyrone was reading was real.

It was supposed to be in Co Durham but there's no way that was the A19, it looked more like a B road in a park somewhere, probably 2 miles from Granada HQ.

The grass was so well kept considering in was beside the road, it definitely didn't sit right with me.

I'm not the world's leading expert on British road signs (clearly if I had even gone to the interview for that particular job, you'd have pwned me out of the room, Twist) but the fact we were supposed to believe that village bowling green was beside an A-road was laughable. Sometimes I think the writers are just proper taking the piss.

I am ANYTHING but a pugnacious upstart

This! That's why characters like Izzie are so laughable, not annoying. The oppression caused by political correctness these days is too much to bare, so the writers let it out in the most obvious yet most subtle way possible. Decades ago comedy made fun of minorities and disabilities. Today comedy makes fun of those who make fun of minorities and disabilities. Izzie is humor, not poor acting.
