Yes I too found it hard to bear. I think it resonates with most, if not all animal lovers when such scenes are incorporated. I don't lean towards so-called chick-flicks but one Christmas, Mum and I were playing Scrabble when the film "Marley & Me" came on the TV and we got watching it. I cried buckets over that. I've been witness to several cats being put to sleep over the years and it never gets any easier because selfishly, we want to delay the inevitable to say our goodbyes. Very sad that Ozzy had cancer but I believe someone on the production team reads this board and I think one person was bemoaning the fact that Ozzy was hardly ever seen.
This is a common mistake in soap land - they bring pets and kids on board but nobody seems to have any involvement with them. Liam is clearly parenting himself and Ozzy was evidently taking himself out for walks
