So Sarah signs a contract to buy a flat within hours of receiving £15K

Does that mean the flat only costs £15K? Because otherwise she'd need a mortgage which I'm sure she wouldn't be able to get same-day approval for.

It is probable that The Bank Of Weatherfield are kind.

I don't think you can buy a new flat anywhere with a deposit of just 15k and as you say you would need to arrange a mortgage as well. No one would be stupid enough to hand over the money without asking more questions, especially Sharif who's a successful businessman.

This storyline had legs originally but now it's stumbling over its stupidity.

The writers really do seem to have crossed the line recently between "writing fiction" and "making $hit up".

She'd struggle to get a mortgage on a smart flat. she's a casual bar worker. Her annual income including tax credits and child benefit or whatever couldn't be more than £20k, surely.

When Pat was talking to Todd, he mentioned that Rita had put a deposit down for one. Did I miss this?

reply

You may have missed the scene where Todd was giving her the hard sell. I suppose that we must assume she invested.

reply

Yeah I saw that scene, who knows eh?
