I know you are joking, but those who are offended need to realise the word "bastard" (which is pretty tame) has been used on the show since the 1970s.

Yep. I can even remember it being used on that legendary teatime soap, Crossroads! Benny was referring to his own illegitimacy rather than cursing. At least, that's what I remember... Or did I dream it...?
