wouldn't the actress be really offended?

years ago [round 07] i remember watching tis and there was a scene with maria and fizz sitting in the bar and liam connor suggests to liz at the bar that he will go over and drink with them, liz then makes a joke/dig and says something like ''oh i'm sorry to disappoint you but fizz already has a boyfriend so you might be out of luck'' and they both laugh derisively...

just wondering how they would get that past the actress who played fizz? I'd be so offended.

reply

Maybe she knew he was interested in Maria and was just joking with him.

The actress who plays Fizz is quite pretty in real life though, they make her look so dowdy on tv!

reply

well yea of course he knew he would be only interested in maria and not fizz, that's obvious for obvious reasons considering maria is very attractive and fizz wasn't but to actually say it and mock her like that is very cutting.

It's like that time John Stape was with Fiz and having an affair with Rosie at the same time, he bought them both sexy lingerie, Fiz was quite a bit heavier at the time, he bought one is Fiz's size and one in Rosies's size, but ended up giving the big size to Rosie by mistake and the small size to Fiz by mistake. Very embarrassing for the actress who plays Fiz.

reply

I thought he had bought sexy underwear for Rosie and comfy pyjamas for Fiz?!

Goodnight, good luck and may your God go with you

reply

Not sure, you may be right, but I do remember Rosie being horrified because the present she got was far too big for her. Fiz thought it was Sally having the affair with John first, then it came out it was Rosie and Kevin punched Stape on t'cobbles.

they have done that on several occasions and I often think the same, I suppose it's part of the job in the acting game. Mary is mocked for being some loner spinster type and it's all jokes and lolz, but in real life she's also quite attractive.

The one I can't really get over is Julie Hesmondhaigh, I always wonder how that conversation went: "we need someone to play someone who used to be a man and we think you fit the bill"

I am ANYTHING but a pugnacious upstart

Reminds me of a scene from EastEnders where a taxi driver said that Shirley looked like Zelda from Terrahawks.

reply

I was thinking exactly about this today, but a little differently.

Sometimes they make reference to a larger character's weight. But when they originally cast the character with said actor, it is often coincidence that the actor is on the large size. So at what point does it become okay to joke about the their character's size, which is in reality also the actor's size?
