ken's will

Hasn't he forgotten his other son and grandson-by his first girlfriend Susan, they claim?

reply

Yes he has, but to be fair he only met Lawrence a couple of times and didn't really like him, and his grandson James turned out to be a con man. So he would be justified in leaving them out of his will. Anyway, that storyline was only concocted to get William Roache's two sons appearing in Corrie.

I think the way he's treating Adam is appalling, however. By rights Adam should receive his late mother's share of the estate (same proportion as Peter, Tracy and Daniel). Not that anyone's share is likely to be a fortune. I doubt that Ken has much in savings as he spent a lot of his money on Tracy's lawyer when she killed Charlie. The house can't be worth any more than £100K.

reply

I wonder whether Adam could contest it, on the basis that Susan would have received one third.

reply

I don't think so otherwise Lawrence would get a share as well.

Are you for real? He is only a grandson!

But yes, Ken can't be worth very much for Adam to be worrying about it.

reply

My will states that, if one of my daughters dies before me, her children get her share divided equally between them. My mother's will states the same, as did my late mother in law's. It's a common convention. Adam should get the share that Susan would have had if she hadn't died.

reply

Ah ok, I wasn't aware.

Didn't Ken re-mortgage the house at that time as well? When he started speaking about "his fortune," I snorted out loud! I don't think that the writers are very realistic about financial matters. Fiz and Tyrone seemed to have resolved their massive debt issues fairly painlessly as well, didn't they?
